Meet Snoopy & Remy

Snoopy and Remy are two English Setters brothers and best friends. While their age gap is quite large with Snoopy being eleven (11) and Remy two (2) it doesn’t stop these boys from having the most fun.

These two are working boys. Professionally trained to be hunting dogs, they guide their hunting pack through the grass, pointing at targets, and optimizing the hunting sport for all. Something I learned during my time with these two is that hunting dogs are never taught how to sit because they are meant to always be on alert for flying targets. This made my time with them very interesting, especially trying to get them to stay still in front of the camera.

Snoopy is such a sweet and loving boy. Throughout his time in front of the camera, he was cooperative and patient with me. The poor boy carries a thick coat and does his best to cool off in the shade, making his photos a little darker than his brothers. Snoopy’s face is rich in colour, showing mainly dark brown and black. Almost the complete opposite of his brother's appearance. Something I love about Snoopy is that he holds so much love behind his big brown eyes, they’re almost golden in the light and I tried to make them stand out.

Remy is an absolute firecracker! He did not sit still for one moment while I was with him. Remy gave me unlimited kisses and demanded constant attention. He was so happy to be out and about he didn’t have a care in the world for me or my camera. During our shoot, his high energy was a challenge but not one we couldn’t handle. I followed him around non-stop with my shutter on continuous and a pocket full of treats for him. I love Remy’s white coat with the bright green grass as a contrast, as well as the colour patches on his face making him stand out in the best way.

Overall, I had so much fun with the two. It’s nice to know that even in dogs, siblings are not always alike. Thank you again to the Principato family for allowing me the opportunity to play and shoot Snoopy and Remy. I hope my pictures do them justice.
